Ghouls lurk around every corner in Gotham City. The coming of the Batman, as well as Harvey Dent’s brief all out war on the mobsters, has turned casual criminals into a dying breed. Only the most powerful and dangerous now remain, and the city's savior, Batman, is now believed by many to be just as bad as the others. But some of Gotham's citizens retain hope. The night is always darkest before dawn.
QUOTE of the MONTH
"Well if you came in today just to meet with the sexy beefcake on page 6, I'm sure I can find him for you." Susanna to Bruce.
“Actually, I had dinner with him last night,” he volleyed in a conversational tone. “He wasn’t overly chatty though. I think he was playing hard to get.” Bruce to Susanna.

Detective Susanna Gossamer « Thread Started on Jul 20, 2008, 9:19am »
Name: Susanna Quinn Gossamer Nickname: Susie Age: 26 Gender: Female. Character Type: Original Occupation: Detective, Homicide Unit, Gotham City Police Affiliation: Gotham City Police.
Physical Description: A fiery redhead, Susanna Gossamer doesn't like to leave any doubts in anyone's mind that she can take care of herself. Physically fit, Susie keeps toned through kick boxing (she swears by it) and weight training, which is a good thing because the girl can pack away a quarter pounder with cheese, plus fries, like it's nobody's business. Off the job she's a jeans and baseball cap kind of girl, mostly because it's a nice break from the 'business appropriate' attire she wears at work. She carries herself with self-assurance border-lining on arrogance, and generally moves at a faster pace than the rest of the world. Her cheeky brown eyes and smooth Southern drawl defy a person to take a chance with her, but there is a warning implicit in her stance and look: this bitch kicks ass.
Personality: Completely confident in her own abilities, Susie has rarely known what it means to be insecure. Raised to identify what she wants and go after it, she applies that stop-at-nothing philosophy in every aspect of her life, approaching her goals directly, hard-knuckled, and doggedly. She's not one to broker disappointment well, and her temper is well documented in a string of citations at work and a slew of bad breakups outside it. She's a staunch feminist, in that she supports women's self-defense classes, criminal awareness, and women in the workplace, and strictly abhors stick-thin models, man-controlled media, and women-as-sex-objects. Stubborn, wreckless, and a little bit self-important, Susie is aware that her self-sufficient attitude rubs many people the wrong way but is content to believe that this is a mark against their character and not hers, and so long as she gets what she wants why should it really matter to her?
History: Born the daughter of a beat cop and a criminal psychologist, Susie's childhood was happy and normal for the first several years of her life. And then, slowly but surely, her mother began to exhibit odd behavior, and over the course of less than a year was diagnosed with more and more severe insanity. The circumstances of her mother's descent into insanity have never been clear; most conjectured that it was stress at work or even the revenge of an old enemy. Whatever the case, at five years old Susie had a mother, and at six her mother was locked up in Arkham Asylum. She was raised by her father, who remained single, after that.
Despite the awkward beginning to her life, much the rest of her childhood went according to plan. She was a happy child and involved teenager, maintained above-average (but not stellar) grades and got into as much trouble as anyone does in high school. Proudly she anticipated following in her parent's footsteps and attended university for criminology, but ultimately left school with a year to go, impatient with school work and studying. She joined Gotham City Police Department thanks to her father's good standing there, and though her rookie hazing was tougher than most thanks to who her father was she showed early on she wouldn't take shit from anybody, and no one likes to get their ass kicked by a girl.
The five years she's spent at GCPD have largely shaped who she is. She had to be tough to survive, not just the bad guys but her own fellow cops. Walking the beat in Gotham was nothing easy, and she soon learned if she wasn't strong on the inside and out the job would kill her - literally. But her experience policing the streets of Gotham was invaluable to her in her training as a detective, and she understands the importance of the in-your-face training. Having risen above criminals, sexist coworkers, dirty practices within the department, and her own personal mix ups in between, it's hardly a wonder she's proud of herself. And for those who know her, the spattering of citations for misconduct on her employment record will come as no surprise, either.
But however big her head may get, there is one surefire way to deflate it. A call from Arkham is sure to put her out of sorts. Despite it being twenty years since she was sequestered away, her mother still has fits of random lucidity, and other moments of half-aware shouting. She always tries to be present for these rare moments, if only to try to solve the biggest mystery of her life: her mother's illness.
Other: Strengths: Physically fit, good with a handgun, self defense. Weaknesses: Easily read, stubborn, arrogant, brash, bad temper, better with facts than with people. Portrayed By:Danneel Harris.
